The history of Christmas

Some believe the origin of Christmas came from the year 1 C.E when three wise men travelled from the East bearing expensive gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh for the new born baby Jesus.  Some source suggests these gifts were chosen for their special representations: myrrh was extremely valuable, sometimes used as perfume as it creates such a pleasant smell.  Gold was often only seen amongst royalty and it is a symbol for kingship, whilst frankincense was highly valued at the time, and suggests holiness, it was directly connected to worship.
